No. You'll only pay interest on the actual amount that you borrow.
When you're approved for a Home Equity Line of Credit (HELOC), you're allowed to borrow up to the maximum amount that you were approved for. The line of credit is flexible, meaning you can take out as little or as much as you need. If you start a project and realize you need more funds, you can borrow more without going through another approval process.

To help the government fight the funding of terrorism and money laundering activities, Federal law requires all financial institutions to obtain, verify and record information that identifies each person who opens an account.

What this means for you:

When you open an account, we will ask you for your name, place of residence, mailing address, date of birth, social security number and other information that will allow us to identify you. We will also ask to see your driver’s license and/or other identifying documents.

Property Tax Rate

The tax that you are required to pay as a property owner levied by the city or municipality. Lookup your county rate or state average rate for a more accurate calculation.

Homeowners Insurance (Monthly)

The standard insurance policy that covers damage to your property and the things you keep in it. The average annual homeowners insurance premium is around $1,200.

HOA Fees (Monthly)

These are dues that are used by a homeowners association toward maintenance of common areas used by all homeowners in a housing development or complex.

Private Mortgage Insurance Rate

The premium for the insurance policy for FHA loans and conventional mortgages if your down payment is less than 20%. PMI typically costs between 0.5% to 1% of the entire loan amount on an annual basis. Only calculated if down payment is less than 20% of mortgage amount.
