Microsoft and CrowdStrike

We want to address the recent IT incident that has been making headlines globally. On July 19, 2024, a substantial global issue affected Windows PCs across various industries, including banks, broadcasters, airlines, and health clinics¹. The root cause of this disruption was a faulty update from cybersecurity provider CrowdStrike, which caused affected devices to fail to load properly, resulting in the infamous Blue Screen of Death (BSOD).

Alta Vista Credit Union’s Position: We want to assure our members that Alta Vista Credit Union does not utilize any CrowdStrike infrastructure or services. Our systems remain unaffected by this incident. We take cybersecurity seriously and have robust measures in place to safeguard your financial information.

Microsoft’s Separate Outage: In addition to the CrowdStrike issue, Microsoft experienced a separate outage that mainly affected Microsoft 365 apps and services due to a configuration change in its backend Azure settings¹. Rest assured that we are closely monitoring the situation and working diligently to ensure uninterrupted services for our members.

What We’re Doing:

• Our IT team is actively monitoring the situation and implementing necessary precautions.
• We have verified that our systems are not impacted by the CrowdStrike-related boot loop issue.
• We remain committed to providing reliable and secure banking services to our members.

There is no reason for anyone from Microsoft or CrowdStrike to contact you. Alta Vista does not have any CrowdStrike infrastructure or services.
